“0% Chance”: Nvidia’s Jensen Huang Torches AI Apocalypse Predictions
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is pushing back hard against AI doomsday warnings, saying there is “0% chance” that 2030 will be the end of the world because of artificial intelligence. In an interview Friday, Huang called claims that AI could lead to human extinction within a decade “not grounded in science,” adding that “scaring people is unnecessary. It is irresponsible.” He argued Nvidia and other AI leaders have a built-in incentive for safety, noting, “Our company’s success is directly connected to the safe deployment of products and services. If we don’t continue to do that, our value would be diminished.
“Huang said existing laws around cybersecurity and corporate liability should serve as the industry’s guardrails, not a wave of new regulations. “Apply that first, don’t let this doomsday narrative allow someone to relieve them of the laws that currently exist,” he said. The stance mirrors President Donald Trump’s position that heavy AI regulation would hand China an advantage, with Trump calling AI takeover fears a hoax on Truth Social last week. Huang, who has opposed U.S. chip export restrictions on China and is expected to attend Trump’s state dinner for President Xi Jinping this week alongside tech leaders like Sam Altman and Tim Cook, said he wants to discuss global AI standards with Beijing.
