A Balm for the Weary Soul: The Rock Music’s “Not Alone” Brings Grace and Compassion to a Hungry World
Utah-based worship collective The Rock Music is opening a new era with the release of their latest project, Not Alone, set to drop on September 11. Produced by Jordan Clark and Joel Pack, the album features six original selections and two favorites, led by the collective’s genre-spanning worship leaders. Born from the mission and purpose of The Rock Church in suburban Salt Lake City—a region with among the fewest Bible-believing Christians in the country—the album carries life-giving messages that resonate far beyond Utah. “These songs have been woven into our regular worship services and events, and they’ve had significant impact on our brothers and sisters in Utah,” shares founder Steele Croswhite. “But the music isn’t limited to Utah. The themes of Truth, longing, and worship expressed in these songs are for the Church everywhere.”
A standout preview of the album, the track “Yearning Heart,” is now available on streaming platforms. Inspired by Dane Ortlund’s Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers, the song captures the profound truth that God’s heart yearns for us with affection, love, and grace. Additional highlights include the impassioned “Loved Me at My Worst,” a balm for the troubled soul; the reflective ballad “amazed again”; a reimagined rock rendition of “Good Good Father”; and the closing track “Grace Will Come,” which reminds listeners that Jesus is with us even in the darkest and most desolate seasons. “There’s a line in ‘Grace Will Come’ that says, ‘Not alone in the dark or the desert/If we’re there, then You’re there/You won’t leave us,'” Croswhite shares. “Within the theme of all of these songs is that central Truth—Jesus is with us. He is close, gracious, compassionate, forgiving, good, and amazing. And we are His!” With its heartfelt messages and diverse sound, Not Alone is poised to bring hope and healing to a world in need.
