A 35-year-old Louisiana woman, Candace Taylor, has been arrested and charged with Medicaid recipient fraud after allegedly accumulating over $9.5 million in revenue from her six businesses while receiving Medicaid benefits. Taylor, dubbed the “Medicaid millionaire” by the Louisiana Attorney General’s office, was taken into custody on Monday following an investigation by the state Bureau of Investigation.

The investigation began after the Louisiana Department of Health filed a complaint, alleging that Taylor underreported her income to qualify for Medicaid benefits. Records show that Taylor applied for Medicaid in 2019 under an alias, listing a bi-weekly income of $1,900 with no dependents. However, investigators discovered substantial financial activity, including deposits totaling $480,994.09 and luxury purchases such as a 2022 Lamborghini Urus for $13,000 and high-end jewelry. Taylor also made multiple six-figure withdrawals via cashier’s checks, allegedly funding property purchases and cosmetic surgery.

Taylor’s lavish lifestyle was also showcased on social media, according to the attorney general’s office. Just two months after purchasing the Lamborghini, Taylor attempted to renew her Medicaid benefits, claiming she made $4,000 per month with an unidentified business, while omitting her ownership of several businesses. She now faces felony charges for government benefits fraud.
