Virginia City Councilman Set Ablaze in Shocking Attack: Lee Vogler’s Condition Unknown

In a horrific incident, Danville City Council member Lee Vogler was doused in gasoline and set on fire by an attacker inside his workplace on Wednesday. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, allegedly forced his way into the Showcase Magazine office where Vogler was working and poured gasoline on him before setting him ablaze. Vogler, who was elected to the Danville City Council in 2012 at the age of 24, was airlifted to a regional medical facility for treatment, and his current condition is unknown.

Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones expressed his shock and sadness, saying, “Lee is a member of our City Council family. Tammy Mulchi have also sent their prayers and support to Vogler and his family.

Hayes was arrested a few blocks away from the scene without incident and is being held in the Danville City Jail without bond. According to the police department, the attack appears to stem from a personal matter not related to Vogler’s position on the city council or any other political affiliation. The community is rallying around Vogler, and officials are urging people to pray for his swift recovery.
