“The Scars Remain”: Disciple’s Landmark Album Returns for 20th Anniversary with Unreleased Demos and Deluxe Vinyl

12views

Twenty years after its original 2006 release, Disciple’s Scars Remain returns as Scars Remain XX, a 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition featuring five previously unreleased demo tracks. A collaboration between Disciple and Girder Records, this expanded release brings together the original 11-song album and five previously unreleased recordings from the Scars Remain era, mixed by Travis Wyrick. Available as a deluxe CD (jewel case with 16-page booklet and cardboard O-ring slipcover) and a special double 2x vinyl (3-color, gatefold, deluxe edition), these five bonus tracks will not be made available on streaming sites—the only way to hear them is to grab a limited deluxe edition CD or vinyl.

Kevin Young shared his reflections on the release: “Those early years of the original lineup of Disciple were very special. Whenever we would show up at the studio with new material we would do what we called Pre-Production: making quick demos of all the songs we had written. And then we would listen to them over and over again and try to decide which songs were going to make the final cut of the album. Sometimes just because a song did not make the album it did not mean that it wasn’t special or that we didn’t really love it or believe in it. When I listen back to these Scars Remain demos I’m reminded of that very thing… how much we loved these songs and how hard it was to cut them from the album. I really hope you enjoy them.” For longtime fans of Disciple and collectors of Christian rock memorabilia, Scars Remain XX is a must-have—a chance to revisit a landmark album and discover the hidden gems that almost made the cut. The album that left its mark twenty years ago is back, and the scars remain.
