An Invitation to Belong: Kate Stanford’s “Right Next to Me” Brings a Message of Unity and Grace to Christian Radio
Faith-based folk-pop singer/songwriter Kate Stanford has released “Right Next to Me” to Christian radio, delivering a timely anthem of belonging, grace, and choosing unity even when people do not see eye to eye. Written by Stanford, Karin Simmons, and Dan Macal, and produced by Kevin Embleton, the song was born from Stanford’s personal experience of exclusion. “I wrote ‘Right Next To Me’ as an anthem of belonging after experiencing exclusion in my life,” she shares. “It is a reminder to listeners that no matter our differences, there is a seat at God’s table for everyone, and there is always a seat open, right next to me.” The song’s heartfelt chorus captures this invitation perfectly: “The table’s big and wide / We both belong even if we can’t see eye to eye,” pointing listeners beyond division and toward the abundance of God’s love.
Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Stanford began singing at age six and released her debut EP, Bloom, at 17. Her song “I’m a Believer” was featured on the Palau the Movie soundtrack, and she has since built significant momentum at Christian radio, with her previous single “Rise” debuting at #1 on the Christian Radio Chart (CRC) Weekly chart and reaching #1 on both the CRC Monthly and Quarterly charts. Now based in Nashville, Stanford has received playlist placement from Spotify and Apple Music, and has performed at festivals including Soulfest, SonRise, Lifest, and Kingdom Bound, opening on tour for artists such as Seph Schlueter and Jaci Velasquez.
