33views

Country music icon and beloved philanthropist Dolly Parton died Tuesday at the age of 80 following a “brief battle with cancer,” her representatives confirmed. The legendary singer, known for timeless hits like “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “I Will Always Love You,” passed away peacefully at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, surrounded by loved ones . Her nephew Bryan Seaver announced the news in a video shared on Parton’s social media pages, saying, “Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens.”

Parton had faced mounting health challenges over the past year, particularly after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, in March 2025. She had been open about neglecting her own well-being while caring for him, saying, “When my husband Carl was very sick—and that was for a long time—and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself.” In May, she canceled her Las Vegas residency due to undisclosed health issues, and earlier this month, she missed a Dollywood appearance, citing dehydration and dizziness. Just days before her passing, she told People magazine, “I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl” . President Donald Trump ordered flags lowered to half-staff for a week, and tributes poured in from fans and fellow artists, including her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, who wrote, “So many evil people in this world and we had to lose a pure heart like Dolly Parton.” The family has requested donations to Parton’s Imagination Library in lieu of flowers.
