Senator Lindsey Graham Dies at 71 After Brief Illness

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina passed away Saturday evening at the age of 71 following a brief and sudden illness, according to a statement from his office. He had served in the U.S. Senate since 2003, building a long legacy in American politics over more than two decades in the upper chamber.

President Donald Trump honored Graham’s memory, calling him “one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known” and a “true American Patriot.” Tributes also poured in from international leaders, including Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who described Graham as a “great friend of Israel” and a “beacon of moral clarity.” His decades of service included roles as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and membership on the Appropriations, Judiciary, and Environment and Public Works committees, as well as 33 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.
