Stars, Stripes, and Soul-Stirring Worship: Christian Music Titans Unite for Kennedy Center’s Epic 250th Birthday Blast

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Before the fireworks light up the National Mall, Washington, D.C.’s famed Kennedy Center will ignite with something even more powerful: the sound of 300 voices raised in praise, patriotism, and gratitude. On Friday, July 3, as America celebrates its monumental 250th birthday—the semiquincentennial—a lineup of Christian music’s finest will take the stage for “The Freedom Gathering: A Musical Celebration of God & Country.” Headlined by Gospel trailblazers Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, worship leaders Charles Billingsley and TaRanda Greene, comedian-multi-instrumentalist Tim Lovelace, and acclaimed saxophonist Uriel Vega, the evening will be anchored by the massive 300-voice American Festival Choir. Drawn from Texas’ Prestonwood Baptist Church, Georgia’s First Baptist Church Woodstock, and other powerhouse congregations, this mass chorale promises to deliver spine-tingling renditions of patriotic tributes and worship anthems alike.

But the night isn’t just about pageantry—it’s about purpose. Prestonwood’s senior pastor, Dr. Jack Graham, a popular author and national voice, will deliver a message reminding audiences that “true freedom begins with Jesus Christ.” IMC Concerts president Landon Beene framed the gathering as both a celebration and a reflection: “As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we are deeply grateful for the freedoms we have been given and are mindful of God’s faithfulness throughout our nation’s history.” With tickets now on sale for the July 3 event, organizers expect a packed house of patriots, pilgrims, and worshippers eager to sing, pray, and thank the Lord for 250 years of “gracious provision.” In a year of parades and pyrotechnics, this Kennedy Center night may just be the most moving moment of them all.
