A 90s R&B Throwdown in Worship: Aaron Cole Mashes Usher with ‘Revelation 19:1’ for Viral New Anthem ‘usher in the spirit’ feat. Tenroc

In a bold collision of nostalgia and praise, award-winning singer, rapper, and songwriter Aaron Cole has released his highly anticipated new single “usher in the spirit” alongside its music video — and the buzz is nothing short of electric. The track ingeniously mashes up the beloved worship song “Revelation 19:1” with the unmistakable 90s R&B hooks of Usher’s “You Make Me Wanna…”, creating a sound that feels both sacred and streetsmart. Co-produced and co-featured by 2-time GRAMMY®-nominated producer Tenroc (Jon Batiste, Tori Kelly, Rihanna, Jonas Brothers) and recorded in New York, the song has already ignited a viral wave. A short performance clip shared weeks ago exploded across social media, drawing enthusiastic responses from artists including Kehlani, Chance The Rapper, Lecrae, KevOnStage, Jonathan McReynolds, Kierra Sheard, DOE, Joe L. Barnes, and Tauren Wells. The music video, also filmed in New York and featuring a cameo from original “106 & Park” host AJ Calloway, leans fully into the retro R&B aesthetic that Cole says he grew up watching on BET. “Shout out to Usher and Jeffrey LaValley’s powerful songs, which have been so inspiring to me,” Cole shared. “God is so good. Let’s usher in the spirit and praise God’s awesome power in our lives every day.”

Beyond the single’s breakout success, Cole shows no signs of slowing down. He will bring the Two Up Two Down Festival to his home state of Virginia this June 24–26 in Richmond, with lineup and ticket details forthcoming. The new track follows his February 2026 single “peace at last” and caps a monumental 2025 that included the EP Where Do We Go From Here?, a national tour supporting Terrian, a Dove Award nomination for his album Sorry, I Changed (Again), and collaborations with xander., Timbaland, Tenroc, Leeland, Isaac Mansfield, and gio. With “usher in the spirit,” Cole has done more than deliver a clever mashup — he has crafted a genuine worship moment wrapped in velvet nostalgia, proving that honoring God and honoring the sounds that shaped you don’t have to be two different things. As Cole puts it, trusting in God’s plans is everything — and right now, those plans sound like a hit.
