From Fairies to Faith: Butch Hartman Launches Studio to Shine God’s Light in Children’s Animation

Emmy-nominated animator Butch Hartman, best known for creating beloved Nickelodeon hits such as The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom, has unveiled a new faith-driven studio aimed at transforming children’s entertainment with explicitly Christian themes. After building a celebrated career at Nickelodeon—earning multiple Daytime and Primetime Emmy nominations, Annie Award nods, and four BMI Film & TV Awards—Hartman is now charting a new creative course. His newly launched Butch Hartman Studios seeks to produce animated content that openly reflects biblical values and offers spiritual encouragement to young audiences navigating what he describes as an increasingly dark cultural landscape.

Hartman’s transition into faith-centered storytelling began after his departure from Nickelodeon in 2018, culminating in projects like The Garden Cartoon, a Bible-infused children’s series. With the formal launch of his studio in 2025, he has doubled down on that mission, pledging to create stories that not only entertain but also illuminate timeless Christian principles. Industry observers note that his move comes amid growing demand for family-friendly and values-based programming. For Hartman, however, the motivation appears deeply personal: to leverage decades of animation expertise in service of a higher calling—bringing what he calls “much-needed light” to the next generation through the power of storytelling.
