Dodie Osteen, the co-founder of Lakewood Church and mother of senior pastor Joel Osteen, has passed away at the age of 91. Joel Osteen announced her passing on social media, saying she died peacefully at her home due to natural causes. “It is with a heavy heart that Victoria and I, along with our family, announce the passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Dolores ‘Dodie’ Osteen,” he wrote. “She was the beloved matriarch of Lakewood Church, an inspiration to millions of people around the world, and a faithful servant of God”.

Dodie Osteen co-founded Lakewood Church with her husband, John, in 1959. She shared a powerful testimony of healing from metastatic liver cancer in 1981, which inspired countless believers. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her family takes comfort in celebrating her amazing life and lasting legacy.
