A Gesture of Gratitude and Unity

The General Overseer of the church, Pastor Yohanna Buru, emphasized that the initiative was not only about providing material support but also about building bridges of understanding between Christians and Muslims. He highlighted the importance of reciprocating kindness, noting that the gesture was partly inspired by Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, a Muslim woman who has consistently supported Christian widows and orphans during festive periods such as Christmas, New Year, and Easter.

“This gesture is also in appreciation of Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, who regularly supports our widows and orphans with food, cash, and clothing during Christian festivities. Her generosity has touched our hearts, and we are inspired to extend the same love to our Muslim brothers and sisters,” Pastor Buru said.

19 Years of Compassionate Outreach

For the past 19 years, the Church of Christ Evangelical and Life Intercessory Ministry has been a beacon of hope, distributing rice, maize, and other essential food items to impoverished Muslims across five northern states. This year, the church has purchased 30 bags of maize and millet to kick off the distribution, targeting over 1,000 beneficiaries.

“We are targeting over 1,000 poor Muslims this year and have purchased 30 bags of maize and millet to distribute, starting today,” Pastor Buru shared. The initiative has not only alleviated hunger but also strengthened the bonds of unity and mutual respect among diverse religious communities.
