Chart-topping Capitol CMG artist Jamie MacDonald was named New Artist of the Year at the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards, which aired Friday, October 9 via TBN and the TBN+ App. The win adds another major milestone to her breakthrough year following the release of her self-titled debut album. MacDonald also delivered one of the evening’s most unforgettable moments, closing out the show with a jaw-dropping performance of her 12-week No. 1 song “Left It In The River,” complete with confetti cannons and a standing ovation. “I’ve spent so much of my life dreaming of the day I’d be able to share my testimony through music,” says MacDonald. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever find the courage to actually do this, but it was Christian and gospel music that helped me find my identity and shatter the many lies I believed about myself. Thank you to all the incredible artists and teams who made sure that music found me. It’s truly what carried me to this moment where I now get to do the same for others.”
In addition to New Artist of the Year, MacDonald received nominations for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year (Jamie MacDonald), Song of the Year (“Left It In The River”), and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year (“Left It In The River”). MacDonald has made history this year, with her self-titled debut album achieving the biggest streaming debut ever for a female Christian artist and the largest debut album streaming launch in Capitol CMG history. The album led MacDonald to surpass 322 million global streams and earn three consecutive No. 1 singles, further cementing her status as one of Christian music’s most exciting new acts. Jamie MacDonald (The Deluxe Album) arrives October 16 via Capitol CMG, expanding her debut to 30 tracks with previously unreleased songs, acoustic renditions, live performances, and new collaborations, including “A Million Chances (with Tori Kelly)” and the previously released “Desperate (with Lauren Daigle).”
