Iran’s IRGC Makes Direct Appeal to U.S. Voters Ahead of Midterms, Urging Opposition to Trump

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has made a direct appeal to American voters ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, urging them to oppose President Donald Trump and pressure Washington to end the war. The message appeared in a 25-page letter addressed to the American public and presented by IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi, according to the New York Post. The letter blamed Trump and U.S. support for Israel for the conflict while accusing the president of misleading Americans about Iran’s nuclear program and the economic consequences of the war. “The US economy is on the precipice of collapse, and yet he keeps on telling Americans that the economy is booming and the prices will soon start coming down,” the letter said. The appeal comes as Iran faces mounting economic pressure of its own, with the rial falling Tuesday to a record low of more than 2.5 million to the U.S. dollar.

The IRGC’s letter represents an unprecedented attempt by a foreign military organization to influence American electoral politics, raising serious concerns about foreign interference in U.S. elections. Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with U.S. senators at the Capitol on Tuesday as the Iran war continues to strain Saudi Arabia and disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting included discussion about the importance of restoring freedom of navigation through the critical waterway, according to a post on X from Senate Foreign Relations Committee Democrats. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., took part in the talks, which also addressed challenges Saudi Arabia is facing as a result of the Iran war, as well as the deteriorating situation in the West Bank.
