A Night of Gospel Glory: Kierra Sheard Honored with BMI Impact Award at 2026 Trailblazers Ceremony

Award-winning gospel artist and songwriter Kierra Sheard has been honored with the prestigious BMI Impact Award at the 2026 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards, held at BMI’s Nashville office . The private ceremony celebrated the songwriters, producers, and publishers behind the year’s most performed gospel songs, with Sheard also recognized as BMI’s Gospel Songwriter of the Year in a three-way tie alongside her brother, J Drew Sheard II, and acclaimed songwriter Kerry Douglas . The sibling duo were honored for co-writing their hits “All Yours,” “RAIN DOWN ON ME,” and “Send It Down,” marking the second time they have shared this coveted title since their first win in 2022.

The BMI Impact Award tributes began with heartfelt video messages from Sheard’s aunt, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and her mother, Karen Clark Sheard, who delivered a moving speech congratulating her daughter on the “well-deserved honor” . Tribute performances from Darrel Walls, DOE, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard celebrated Sheard’s illustrious career, with the ceremony culminating in Sheard bringing the audience to their feet with her hit song “You Are” . BMI’s Gospel Song of the Year went to “Lead Me On,” co-written by Jonathan Jay, Chandler Moore, and Jeff Pardo, while Capitol CMG Publishing received Publisher of the Year . Reflecting on the honor, Sheard shared, “God has a way to reward faithfulness before He rewards popularity… tonight is a reminder that if you keep saying yes, He knows exactly where to find you.
