CENTCOM Unleashes Ninth Consecutive Night of Strikes on Iran, Targeting Military Infrastructure

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched another wave of strikes against Iran, marking the ninth consecutive night of military operations aimed at degrading Tehran’s ability to threaten international shipping in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The strikes, which began at 7 p.m. ET, targeted Iranian military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks. “The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM stated, adding that its forces remain “highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready.”

The sustained campaign comes as Iran and the United States remain locked in a bitter struggle over control of the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20% of global oil trade passes . While President Trump has declared the U.S. military has “knocked out” much of Iran’s naval, air, and missile capabilities, Tehran continues to assert authority over the waterway, warning that it will only reopen under “Iranian arrangements” . Iranian officials have signaled they intend to impose fees and control shipping corridors even in peacetime, a claim the U.S. rejects as illegal . As the strikes continue, both sides remain entrenched, with Iran vowing to retaliate for U.S. “aggression” and Washington insisting on freedom of navigation in the critical chokepoint.
