Trump: ‘Iran Called, They Want to Make a Deal So Badly’ After U.S. Strikes

President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that Iran has reached out seeking a deal following the latest U.S. strikes, telling reporters aboard Air Force One that Tehran wants to negotiate “so badly” . However, Trump immediately cast doubt on Iran’s trustworthiness, stating, “I just don’t know if they’re worthy of making a deal. I don’t know that they’re going to honor the deal. That’s the problem.” The comments came hours after Trump declared the fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire “over,” escalating tensions with military strikes that both sides traded throughout the day.

Trump says Iran reached out after US strikes: ‘They want to make a deal so badly’

The latest exchange of fire was triggered by Iran’s attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which prompted the U.S. military to strike over 80 Iranian targets, including air defense systems, command networks, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats . Iran responded by targeting 85 U.S. military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait . When asked about a potential return to full-scale war, Trump said, “I don’t know,” but insisted the U.S. had achieved its objectives, adding that Iran has “very little left” . Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf issued a blunt warning: “If you strike, you’ll get hit,” and emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz “will only open with ‘Iranian arrangements,’ not American threats.”
