Faith at the Podium: How Karoline Leavitt Leans on God as the Youngest White House Press Secretary

274views

At just 27 years old, Karoline Leavitt has made history as the youngest White House Press Secretary—but she doesn’t step up to the podium alone. Before facing the press, she pauses with her team in prayer, seeking divine guidance, confidence, and protection.

In a recent interview with CBN News, Leavitt opened up about how her unwavering faith in God strengthens her for one of the most high-pressure jobs in politics.

A Moment of Prayer Before the Storm

Every White House press briefing is a battleground of tough questions, rapid-fire exchanges, and intense scrutiny. Yet, Leavitt approaches each one with a quiet moment of faith.

“Team prayer before [the briefing] is just a moment to be silent and still and ask God for confidence and the ability to articulate my words, knowledge, prayer, protection,” she shared. “It’s the last thing I do before I go out there, and then it just gives me the confidence to do a briefing.”

For Leavitt, this spiritual grounding isn’t just a ritual—it’s a necessity. In a role filled with public pressure, controversy, and relentless media attention, she leans on her faith to stay anchored.

“My faith is incredibly important to me… Being in a role that is very demanding and at times controversial, there’s a lot of public pressure and discussion online about who you are and your family,” she said. “It could be difficult for someone who doesn’t have faith, but with faith, all things are possible.”

Roots of Resilience: Family, Discipline, and Softball

Leavitt’s confidence didn’t emerge overnight. She credits her New Hampshire upbringing with hardworking, blue-collar parents for instilling in her the values of perseverance and grit.

“The value of hard work and determination and drive was instilled in me at a very young age, just by watching my parents work so hard to earn a living,” she explained.

Her Catholic education further reinforced discipline and devotion, shaping her into the poised leader she is today. But another unexpected training ground? Softball.

A standout player in high school (ranking third in home runs on her team) and a college scholarship recipient, Leavitt sees striking parallels between sports and politics.

“The game of softball and sports prepared me for the game of politics, no doubt about it,” she said. “Discipline, hard work, teamwork, and also competing against yourself to be the best you can be… Every day is a new game in this job.”

Trusting God’s Plan—Even in Defeat

Before her history-making role as Press Secretary, Leavitt ran for Congress in 2022—and lost. Yet, rather than seeing it as a failure, she views it as divine redirection.

“God has a plan for everyone. I believe that firmly,” she said. “God knew what He was doing… You just have to trust the process and trust that He’s working in your life and stay grounded in your faith throughout the way.”

That trust has led her to the White House briefing room, where she now fields questions with a mix of preparation and prayer. While she acknowledges the challenges of modern political journalism—“many [reporters] are trying out for their next big show”—she still believes in true journalists who seek truth over sensationalism.

A Witness in the White House

In a town where power often overshadows principle, Leavitt stands out—not just for her youth, but for her open reliance on faith. Her journey is a testament to what happens when hard work meets divine purpose.

As she steps up to the podium each day, she carries more than talking points—she carries a quiet confidence that comes from knowing “with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

And in the high-stakes arena of Washington, that may be the most powerful message of all.
