Sidewalk Prophets Close 2024 with Heartfelt Ballad “I Apologize,” Leading into Their Anticipated Fifth Album
Curb Records band Sidewalk Prophets unveils a deeply introspective ballad, “I Apologize,” today (12/6), offering a poignant reflection on pride, judgment, and the humble power of saying “I’m sorry.” As their final release of 2024, the soul-stirring track sets the stage for the group’s upcoming fifth studio album, Looking Up, arriving on February 14, 2025. With gentle piano melodies and emotive string arrangements, the song’s vulnerability shines through, driven by frontman Dave Frey’s heartfelt lyrics. Written alongside Ben McDonald, Jonathan Gamble, and Justin Richards, and produced by Mark Campbell with contributions from members Cal Joslin and Dan Macal, “I Apologize” is a raw acknowledgment of how often Christ’s followers fall short of embodying His love.
“This song was inspired by a girl who was betrayed by the very people who were supposed to represent Christ in her life,” Frey shares. “All we could offer were these three words: ‘I am sorry.’ It’s a small step, but it can begin healing.” As the band reflects on the ways Christians can unintentionally lead others astray, they invite listeners to embrace humility and seek reconciliation. The release coincides with the kickoff of Sidewalk Prophets’ cherished Great Big Family Christmas tour tonight (12/6) in Traverse City, Michigan. The festive tour will make stops in 12 cities, culminating in Farmville, Virginia, on December 22. Fans can listen to “I Apologize” now and find tour details at www.greatbigfamilychristmas.com.
