Shining Bright: Jim Sonefeld’s “Light of Joy” Illuminates the Holiday Season
Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, renowned drummer and songwriter of 2x GRAMMY Award-winning Hootie & the Blowfish, is set to release his debut Christmas EP, Light of Joy, on November 1st. The collection’s lead single, “Light of Joy (Gloria)”, drops October 18th, showcasing Sonefeld’s signature storytelling and poignant lyrics celebrating Jesus of Nazareth. Co-written with Martin Chalk and David Spencer, and produced by Spencer, this soaring anthem promises to become a holiday classic.
The EP’s five original songs blend joyful celebration with nostalgic reflection, exploring both the religious and cultural aspects of Christmas. Tracks like “I Just Wanna See You” and “Mama In The Kitchen” showcase Sonefeld’s ability to craft relatable, emotive stories. Longtime collaborator Lee J. Turner produces these tracks, while previously released songs “It’s Love” and “I Won’t Be Blue At Christmas” round out the record. Sonefeld’s goal is clear: to offer hope and inspiration through the universal power of song.
