Dare to Dream: How Much Do You Really Know About Your World?

97views

In a world that’s rapidly spinning on its axis—both literally and figuratively—how much do you truly know about the vast, magnificent globe beneath your feet? I’m not talking about your next holiday destination or the latest Instagram-worthy spot; I’m talking about the depths of this earth, the heights of its mountains, the richness of its cultures, and the stories that are etched into its very soil. The real question is, have you dared to explore it? And more importantly, have you dared to dream?

We often find ourselves trapped in the routine of daily life, believing that the world beyond our comfort zones is too vast, too complicated, or simply too far removed from our grasp. We convince ourselves that the four walls we reside within are enough to contain our essence. But let’s be honest—God did not create this breathtaking world for us to just sit in one place and twiddle our thumbs, did He?

“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!” (Proverbs 6:6). Even the smallest of creatures knows to venture out, to gather, to explore. Yet here we are, humans with minds capable of dreaming, mapping, and discovering, often choosing instead to remain sedentary, waiting for life to happen to us.

Now, let’s inject a little humour here—perhaps you’re thinking, “I’ve seen the Eiffel Tower on TV, does that count?” Well, my dear armchair traveler, no, it doesn’t. Google Earth is a fantastic tool, but it’s not the same as feeling the wind on your face from the peak of a mountain or hearing the rustle of leaves in a forest far from the noise of civilization. You can’t smell the spices of a Moroccan market through a screen or feel the sacred silence of a cathedral’s ancient halls by reading about it.

But let’s get daring, shall we? How about considering that every step you take in exploring the world is a step closer to understanding God’s grand design for you? Yes, you heard that right. God didn’t give us a world this diverse and beautiful just for the sake of it. He wants us to witness it, to interact with it, to learn from it. He created mountains to climb, oceans to cross, and cultures to experience—all for His glory and our growth.

Remember, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1). That includes you and me, and it’s our duty to explore and steward this creation. So why stay stuck in the mundane when the extraordinary is waiting just outside your door? Or perhaps a flight away?

Let’s be a little sarcastic here—if you’re planning on waiting until retirement to finally take that dream trip, let me remind you of a little thing called aging. The body isn’t as cooperative as the years go by. You might want to reconsider the timing before your knees decide they’d rather stay on the couch.

So, dare to dream, dare to explore. The world is more than just a backdrop to your life; it’s an invitation from God to experience His creation in all its glory. For God and humanity—because what better way to honor Him than by appreciating the gift of this world He’s given us? The question remains, how much do you really know about your world? And when will you finally set out to discover it?
