26views

In a landmark effort to foster cross-cultural spiritual dialogue, the Evangelical Alliance has unveiled a powerful new resource designed to help South Asians explore the Christian faith. Titled Discovering Jesus, this comprehensive eight-part video course, complete with leader and participant guides, builds upon a 2014 edition with fresh cultural sensitivity. Project lead Rani Joshi describes it as an essential evangelistic tool, crafted to equip churches and small groups to confidently reach neighbors from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, or secular backgrounds. “The work has been done for them,” Joshi emphasizes, highlighting the resource’s ready-made framework for meaningful conversations in homes, cafes, and congregations alike.

Central to the course’s design is navigating the profound cultural nuances that shape spiritual identity, particularly within honor and shame contexts common in South Asian communities. Intercultural ministry advisor Justin Gill notes that this resource equips leaders to present the gospel in a culturally appropriate way, ensuring that a person’s identity in Christ is clearly understood and embraced. By inviting participants to explore who Jesus is and why His message matters to their personal story, the initiative offers a timely bridge of understanding. As Evangelical Alliance chief executive Gavin Calver states, this resource shares the gospel in a “helpful and powerful way,” aiming not just to inform, but to transform hearts across one of the world’s most diverse and populous regions.
