Gotee Records is proud to announce the signing of emerging R&B/soul artist Leslie Perez. Her vocals and genre-blending sound have quickly positioned her as an artist to watch. The Minnesota-born singer-songwriter has garnered millions of independent streams, opened for Madison Ryann Ward, performed in London, and successfully crowdfunded her most recent EP, which has drawn attention across the music industry.
“What an honor to partner with someone who not only has a world-class voice but also has a world-class work ethic,” shares VP A&R and Publishing of Gotee Records, Tyrus Morgan. “It’s really exciting to start this journey with Leslie and have a front row seat to where her music and songwriting will take us!”
Blending elements of R&B, soul, and neo-soul, Perez approaches her craft with striking honesty and musical depth. Her songwriting is rooted in personal experience and a desire for authenticity, resulting in timeless, emotionally resonant work.
“I want people to feel something when they hear my music, to truly love what they’re hearing and make each song their own,” says Perez.
Perez began releasing music independently while in college. As her audience organically grew, so did industry interest, which led to conversations with multiple labels and ultimately a partnership with Gotee Records.
“Every now and again, someone has such a great vocal instrument that they basically become a voice that is marked by a first name only,” adds Joey Elwood, co-founder of Gotee Records and CEO of Bell Partners Christian Music. “I don’t want to start naming names because most of these people are legends, and I don’t want to start Leslie’s career with some hyperbolic comparison or announcement. However, I think Leslie could just become that to everyone. You will not forget her voice when you hear it. And I think there is a good chance her first name will be all that needs to be said when you describe it.”
