The Anglican Communion launch has formally inaugurated the Oyo South Diocese and consecrated Dr. Olufemi Familoni as its pioneer bishop.
Dr. Familoni was among the fifteen newly consecrated bishops during a landmark service held on November 9 at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
At the consecration, the bishop pledged to serve the new diocese with reverence for God, commitment to mission work, and steadfast leadership.
The ceremony was presided over by the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, The Most Reverend Henry C. Ndukuba, who led prayers and formally presented Bishop Familoni to the congregation.
In his inaugural sermon, Bishop Familoni urged Christians to remain steadfast in prayer and courageous amid ongoing security challenges in some parts of the country.
“Our vision for the new diocese is to shine the light of Christ by supporting the less privileged and reaching out to those in need,” he said.
“We are guided by the zeal and purpose of God, much like Abraham, who left his comfort zone to become the father of nations.”
