Heaven Touches Earth: Salvation Ministries Unveils 120,000-Seater ‘Hand of God Cathedral’ in Port Harcourt

In a breathtaking moment for Nigeria’s Christian community, Salvation Ministries has officially dedicated its colossal Hand of God Cathedral — a 120,000-seat architectural marvel now standing tall along Km 10 East-West Road, Igwuruta, near Port Harcourt International Airport. Designed in the form of a giant palm with five finger-shaped wings, the edifice — nicknamed the “Five Fingers of God” — symbolizes divine reach and grace. What began as a 40,000-seat vision in 2010 has now become one of the largest single-auditorium church buildings in the world, cementing Nigeria’s position as a hub of megachurch innovation and faith-driven architecture.
The dedication ceremony, led by Salvation Ministries’ founder and General Overseer, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, drew an overwhelming crowd of worshippers from across the globe, causing gridlock along the Airport Road as thousands thronged to witness the unveiling. Describing the cathedral as “a living testimony of God’s limitless power,” Ibiyeomie expressed gratitude for the ministry’s 28-year journey of faith. The Hand of God Cathedral now serves as the church’s new global headquarters, set to host major conventions, crusades, and weekly services — a beacon of spiritual devotion and architectural grandeur rising from the heart of Port Harcourt.
