Faith, Frost, and Forty Miles of Hope: Lost Hunter Rescued After 20 Days in California Wilderness

In a story that has stirred hearts across the nation, 65-year-old hunter Ron Dailey was miraculously found alive after surviving 20 harrowing days lost in California’s rugged Sierra National Forest. What began as a simple one-day hunting trip on October 13 turned into a fight for survival when his truck broke down 10,000 feet up a mountain. With dwindling supplies, Dailey used his vehicle as makeshift shelter, rationing food for two weeks before he finally decided to venture downhill in search of help. “You either try to walk out or you’re going to sit here and die,” Dailey told ABC 7 News, his voice heavy with emotion but filled with gratitude.

Search teams discovered the seasoned hunter dehydrated and exhausted but miraculously alive—a testament, he says, to divine protection. “God still does miracles,” Dailey declared from his hospital bed, crediting his faith for the strength to endure freezing nights and isolation. His story has since become a beacon of hope and inspiration to many, reminding the world that even in the loneliest wilderness, faith can still light the way home.
