Crowned by Conviction: Kayleigh Bush Honoured in Washington D.C. for Standing Firm in Her Faith

52views

Former Miss North Florida, Kayleigh Bush, has been recognised nationally for her unwavering stand for faith and truth after refusing to sign a Miss America contract that conflicted with her Christian beliefs. On October 10, 2025, Bush was presented with the Young Christian Woman of Distinction Award by She Leads America at its annual gala held at the prestigious Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C. The event celebrated women of courage and conviction whose actions have demonstrated biblical integrity in public life. Bush’s award was also officially entered into the Congressional Record, a rare honour that underscores the significance of her principled stand.

Christian pageant winner honoured for refusing to compromise her faith

Bush, who was crowned Miss North Florida in 2024, lost her title just two months later after refusing to agree to contract language that, she said, “redefined ‘female’ to include biological males who had undergone surgery.” Despite mounting pressure, Bush stood her ground, citing her faith and biblical conviction as her guide. Backed by the Liberty Counsel, she appealed the decision, but both the Miss Florida Scholarship Program and Miss America Organization rejected her appeal. Her courage drew nationwide attention, sparking discussions on religious freedom, identity, and the cost of living by conviction in a culture that often demands compromise.

Peggy Nienaber, vice president of Faith & Liberty and director of She Leads America, commended Bush as “a young woman of uncommon courage.” Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver echoed this sentiment, stating that Bush “gave up her crown rather than accept a lie.” In her acceptance speech, Bush shared that her ultimate goal was not to make headlines but to inspire others to stay true to their beliefs, no matter the cost. “If my story reminds even one young believer that truth is worth standing for, then it’s all been worth it,” she said. Her story now stands as a modern parable of conviction — a reminder that true crowns are not made of gold, but of courage, faith, and integrity.
