A Florida-based multi-agency task force, Joint Inter-Agency Task Force – South (JIATF-S), has achieved a historic milestone in the fight against narcotics trafficking. In fiscal year 2025, the task force seized a staggering one million pounds of cocaine, equivalent to 378 million lethal doses, enough to kill every American. This record-breaking haul is valued at $11.34 billion in denied revenue to cartels and narco-terrorists. The seizure is a testament to the effectiveness of interagency collaboration and international partnerships in disrupting the flow of illicit drugs.

A Significant Disruption to Narcotics Trafficking

The task force operates across 42 million square miles, from the Eastern Pacific to the Western Atlantic, and has been working tirelessly to weaken transnational criminal organizations. According to officials, the amount of drugs seized is enough to fill 42 dump trucks. This achievement demonstrates the commitment of JIATF-S to saving lives and protecting the homeland by disrupting the flow of deadly drugs. The task force’s efforts have resulted in the removal of 377.9 million lethal doses from the streets, a significant disruption to narcotics trafficking.

Escalating Efforts Against Cartels

The Trump administration has vowed to intensify military action in the Caribbean as part of its counter-narcotics strategy. In recent months, U.S. forces have conducted multiple operations targeting smuggling vessels, and the administration has designated groups like the Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel as foreign terrorist organizations. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been accused of leading a drug-trafficking network and has responded to the U.S. deployment of guided-missile destroyers by declaring Venezuela’s readiness to resist any attacks.
