COZA Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Apologizes to CAC Over Apostle Babalola Remarks

Senior Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) has issued a public apology to the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and the family of the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola following backlash over comments made in a recent sermon. Fatoyinbo described Apostle Babalola as “anointed… so anointed” but added that “all the grace just went like that because he had no money,” and questioned, “Where are his children?” – remarks that many viewed as diminishing the legacy of the revered spiritual figure.

A Sincere Apology
In his apology, Fatoyinbo stated that his words were misconstrued and that he holds Apostle Babalola in high esteem, describing him as a “distinguished father of faith in Nigeria and indeed all over the world”. He emphasized that he would never disrespect the Apostle or his family and expressed gratitude for the CAC’s “kind and magnanimous” response. Fatoyinbo prayed that the apology would put the issue to rest and that the CAC and Apostle Babalola’s legacy would continue to grow. The CAC had criticized Fatoyinbo’s comments as insensitive and biblically unsound, citing Jesus’ words in Luke 12:15, “Take heed and beware of covetousness”
