The incident occurred in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area of the base, where Radford is assigned as an automated logistics sergeant. According to officials, Radford used a personal weapon in the attack and has been apprehended. He is currently in pre-trial confinement.

The five soldiers who were shot are reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment at Winn Army Community Hospital. The shooting prompted a lockdown at the base, which was later lifted after Radford’s arrest at 11:35 a.m. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation. This isn’t Radford’s first encounter with law enforcement. On May 18, 2025, he was arrested for driving under the influence and failing to obey a traffic control device.
