U.S. Army Sergeant Quornelius Radford, 28, has been identified as the suspect in the Fort Stewart shooting that injured five soldiers on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area of the base, where Radford is assigned as an automated logistics sergeant. According to officials, Radford used a personal weapon in the attack and has been apprehended. He is currently in pre-trial confinement.

Details of the Incident
The five soldiers who were shot are reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment at Winn Army Community Hospital. The shooting prompted a lockdown at the base, which was later lifted after Radford’s arrest at 11:35 a.m. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation. Radford, who joined the Army in January 2018, has no deployment history ².

Previous Run-ins with the Law
This isn’t Radford’s first encounter with law enforcement. On May 18, 2025, he was arrested for driving under the influence and failing to obey a traffic control device. When questioned about running a red light, Radford claimed he needed to use the bathroom. The Army is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
