In a remarkable breakthrough, a Christian woman in the United States has given birth to a baby boy using an embryo that was frozen for an astonishing 31 years. Lindsey Pierce and her husband, Tim, welcomed Thaddeus Daniel Pierce, who was conceived through embryo adoption facilitated by Nightline Christian Adoptions. The embryoF was donated by Linda Archerd, a Christian woman who had stored four embryos during her IVF treatment in 1994. One of those embryos is now a 30-year-old woman with a 10-year-old daughter, making her the new baby’s biological sister and niece.

The embryo adoption process allowed Linda to choose the future parents for her frozen embryos, and she selected the Pierces because they fit her criteria of being a married, Caucasian Christian couple. Dr. John Gordon, a Christian doctor who founded the Rejoice Fertility Clinic, oversaw the process. Thaddeus’s birth marks a significant milestone, as he is believed to be the world’s oldest baby born from a frozen embryo, surpassing previous records of 27 and 30 years. Lindsey Pierce expressed her joy, saying, “He is so chill. We are in awe that we have this precious baby”.
Linda, now 62, was thrilled to see the resemblance between Thaddeus and his big sister, saying, “The first thing that I noticed when Lindsey sent me his pictures is how much he looks like my daughter when she was a baby.” This heartwarming story highlights the possibilities of modern medicine and the joy of giving life to frozen embryos. The Pierces’ experience also brings attention to embryo adoption as a viable option for families seeking to build their families while giving a chance at life to embryos that might otherwise remain frozen or be discarded.
