A shocking incident unfolded at a Walmart store in Traverse City, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon, leaving at least 11 people stabbed, with six in critical condition. According to Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea, a 42-year-old man, believed to be a Michigan resident, entered the store and used a folding knife to carry out the attack. The suspect was taken into custody within minutes, thanks to the swift response of law enforcement and the assistance of citizens in the store.

The victims, comprising six men and five women, were rushed to Munson Healthcare, where they are receiving treatment. While their ages have not been released, authorities confirmed that none of the victims were first responders or Walmart employees. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her concern over the incident, stating, “Our thoughts are with the victims and the community reeling from this brutal act of violence”. The FBI is providing support to local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.

Walmart has expressed its gratitude for the quick response of first responders and is cooperating with authorities in the investigation. “Violence like this is unacceptable,” said Walmart spokesperson Joe Pennington. “Our thoughts are with those who were injured and we’re thankful for the swift action of first responders”. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the inciden.
