Damage Unveiled: Satellite Imagery Reveals Devastation at Iran’s Fordow Nuclear Site

123views

Recent satellite imagery has exposed the extent of damage inflicted on Iran’s underground Fordow uranium enrichment site following airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel. The high-resolution images, captured by Maxar Technologies, show significant destruction to tunnels and access roads, with excavators and personnel working to repair the damage. The strikes, which used bunker-buster bombs, have left visible craters and scattered dust around the facility, indicating the severity of the impact.

The satellite photos reveal an excavator and several personnel positioned near the northern shaft, while a crane operates at the entrance to the shaft, with additional vehicles parked along the access path. Analysts believe the primary goal of the strikes was to hinder access to the site and complicate repair efforts. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that the centrifuges at the Fordow facility are no longer operational, dealing a significant blow to Iran’s nuclear program.

The strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites have sparked international concern, with the United States and Israel stating that their military actions aimed to hinder Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran has rejected these accusations, maintaining that its nuclear program is peaceful. According to Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the strikes have caused “extremely severe damage and destruction” to the targeted sites, setting back Iran’s nuclear ambitions by several years.
