Cycling for a Purpose: ZOE International’s Quest to End Child Trafficking

A team of eight brave men from ZOE International has embarked on an extraordinary journey, cycling 3,000 miles across the United States to raise awareness and funds to combat child trafficking. Participating in the 2025 Race Across America (RAAM), one of the toughest cycling races globally, these athletes are driven by more than just competition – they’re fueled by a mission to rescue every child and bring an end to this heinous crime. With a goal to raise $750,000, they’re pedaling through mountains, deserts, and everything in between, facing challenges like pounding storms and blistering sunshine.

The ZOE cycling team has a remarkable track record, having placed in the top three three times in the past seven years, including a first-place win in 2021. Led by Brad Ortenzi, a former undercover investigator, the team’s dedication stems from personal experiences and encounters with child trafficking survivors. Ortenzi’s visit to Thailand in 2014, where he witnessed ZOE’s rescue efforts firsthand, sparked his involvement in the fight against child trafficking. David Cox, ZOE USA’s national director, emphasizes the importance of this ride in elevating the reality of child trafficking and inspiring action to stop it and protect vulnerable children.
ZOE International’s comprehensive approach to combating child trafficking includes prevention, rescue, and restoration, operating in five countries – Thailand, Mexico, Japan, Australia, and the United States. By sharing God’s love and providing hope and healing to vulnerable communities, ZOE aims to rescue every child and bring an end to child trafficking. The team’s participation in RAAM not only raises awareness but also engages the Church in praying for these children, underscoring the power of faith and community in driving positive change.
