The recent massacre in Benue State, which claimed over 200 lives in Yelewata village, has sparked widespread condemnation, with Senior Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church joining the growing voices of outrage. Describing the killings as “heartbreaking” and “unacceptable,” Adefarasin emphasized that the nation cannot afford to remain indifferent in the face of such cruelty. He noted that a nation that shrugs at injustice risks being consumed by it, stressing that the pain of the Benue people matters and their lives are valuable.

In his statement, Adefarasin called for deep, true justice, not just in words but in palpable action. He urged leaders and the nation as a whole not to look away, emphasizing that when one part of the nation bleeds, the whole must feel it. This sentiment is echoed by other prominent figures, including music star 2Baba, who has expressed outrage over the continued killings in Benue State, describing the situation as a national emergency. Tacha, a Nigerian socialite, also broke down in tears while condemning the government’s slow response to the Benue killings.
The international community is taking notice, with the United Nations calling for a comprehensive investigation into the attacks. President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to meet with Benue State stakeholders to discuss solutions to the deadly attacks. As the state mourns, there are growing demands for urgent action to prevent further bloodshed and ensure justice for the victims.
