Strength in the Spirit: 10 Sacred Acts Only the Strong in Faith Can Truly Do

— A Spiritually Uplifting Journey Through God’s Word and Human Humility —

By every human standard, strength is often measured by muscle, success, or status. But according to the Word of God, true strength is a quiet, enduring spirit rooted in humility, love, and truth. As I journey deeper into Scripture and observe human behavior through the lens of faith, I’ve discovered that some acts—though simple in nature—require more strength than most people realize.

They are acts of the spirit, not of the flesh. And only the strong—those anchored in Christ—can truly walk this narrow and glorious road.

Here is a partial list of these sacred acts, each one a badge of spiritual courage and divine maturity.

1. Only the Strong Can Humble Themselves

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” — James 4:10

To bow low before the Lord, to acknowledge our smallness in His greatness, requires a strength that the proud cannot comprehend. The world says “exalt yourself,” but the Kingdom says “humble yourself and let God exalt you in due time.” The strong know that to kneel in humility is to stand tall in grace.

2. Only the Strong Can Serve Others

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” — John 13:14

Jesus, the King of Glory, wrapped a towel around His waist and washed the feet of His disciples. Service is not for the weak. It demands patience, sacrifice, and a heart emptied of self. The spiritually strong find joy in being last, knowing that in the eyes of the Lord, they are first.

3. Only the Strong Can Admit When They’re Wrong

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9

The elderly woman at the truck stop taught us a quiet lesson. She made a mistake and corrected her path without a word of apology or prideful explanation. But God desires more than silent correction—He calls for confession, honesty, and surrender. Only those secure in their identity in Christ can admit, “I was wrong,” and seek forgiveness.

4. Only the Strong Can Ask for Help

“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” — Psalm 121:2

We were never created to walk this journey alone. Asking for help is not weakness—it is wisdom wrapped in humility. The strong are not afraid to reach out, because they know their strength comes from above, not within.

5. Only the Strong Can Brag on Others

“Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.” — Proverbs 27:2

It takes security in God’s love to celebrate others without feeling diminished. The strong don’t compete—they complete. They speak life into others, highlight their gifts, and rejoice in their successes without envy. In doing so, they reflect the heart of a generous God.

6. Only the Strong Can Forgive

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32

Forgiveness is not forgetting—it’s releasing. It is the decision to free yourself from the chains of resentment and hand the offense over to God. The weak hold grudges; the strong walk in grace. They trust God to heal, restore, and repay.

7. Only the Strong Can Wait Patiently

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31

In an age of instant gratification, patience is a radical act of faith. Waiting on God—trusting His timing over our own—requires spiritual muscle. The strong know that delays are not denials, and God’s silence often prepares us for His greatest moves.

8. Only the Strong Can Remain Grateful in Trials

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Gratitude in good times is natural. Gratitude in hard times is supernatural. Only the strong in faith can lift hands in worship when the storm still rages, knowing that God is sovereign, and His purpose prevails—even in pain.

9. Only the Strong Can Stand Alone for Righteousness

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 5:10

Standing for truth in a compromising world takes courage. When others bow to fear or pressure, the strong remain unshaken. They would rather walk alone with God than be popular without Him.

10. Only the Strong Can Finish Well

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

Many start with passion, few endure with perseverance. The strong remain faithful, finish their assignment, and cross the finish line with joy. They do not grow weary in doing good, because their strength is renewed daily in the Lord.

Final Thoughts:

The world is impressed by external power, but Heaven honors inward strength—quiet, resolute, humble, and holy. These ten things are not just virtues—they are divine strategies for victorious living. And they’re not just for a chosen few. They are available to all who daily surrender to Christ and draw strength from His Spirit.

May we be among the strong—not because of our own might, but because “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

So today, choose strength. Choose surrender. Choose Jesus.
