Bolaji Idowu, lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center has stirred discussion with his recent advice, cautioning against dating while jobless.

According to Pastor Idowu, pursuing relationships without financial stability can lead to unnecessary stress and complications.

He emphasized that many relationships formed during financial hardship are not truly love-driven but rather influenced by need or hunger.

He said; “Don’t date when you are jobless. There are some relationships that are attractive not because they are attractive, it’s because you have no money.

“When you have your own money, you will be surprised how you should have not fallen in love with some people. It’s not love induced; it was hunger induced. Never negotiate on a hungry stomach, you will get a bad deal.”

The pastor further warned against settling for less due to poverty, calling this the crumbs mentality.

He added; “I hang around people and when I hear the things that they used to talk about – ‘if I can just travel to America’. How can traveling to America be a goal?”

The pastor’s comments have resonated with some, who agree that financial security is essential for building a strong foundation in relationships. Others, however, argue that employment status shouldn’t define one’s worth or readiness for love.
