Breaking Down Barriers: Community Bible Church Appoints First Deaf Ministry Pastor

In a groundbreaking move, Community Bible Church in San Antonio has appointed Pastor Ashton Luff as its first-ever Deaf Ministry Pastor. This historic appointment marks a new chapter in worship for the city’s 78,000-strong deaf community. With services set to begin in June, Pastor Luff will lead Saturday evening services, providing a welcoming environment where Deaf individuals can learn about Jesus and build meaningful relationships without language barriers.
The church’s deaf ministry is designed to be inclusive, embracing American Sign Language (ASL) as the primary mode of communication and offering voice interpreters to bridge the gap for those unfamiliar with sign language. This ministry aims to bring people together and foster a deeper understanding and connection to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Lead Pastor Ed Newton expressed his excitement about the appointment, highlighting the significance of having a dedicated deaf pastor in a city where the deaf community has lacked a dedicated church.
Pastor Luff’s appointment is the result of Newton’s persistent efforts to bring him on board, despite initial rejections. Newton prayed for healing and empowerment for the deaf community, acknowledging the power of Jesus to bring resurrection and new life. With Pastor Luff at the helm, Community Bible Church is poised to make a profound impact on the lives of Deaf individuals in San Antonio, providing a vibrant and inclusive community where they can worship and grow in their faith
