NYPD Under Attack: Teen Suspects Linked to Venezuelan Gang Arrested in Times Square Incident

A disturbing incident unfolded in Times Square on Friday night when two NYPD officers were allegedly attacked by a group of teenagers linked to the ultra-violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. According to police sources, eleven teen members were involved in the attack, which included throwing glass bottles, basketballs, and rocks at the officers. Five suspects, all illegal aliens from Venezuela, have been arrested in connection with the incident, with the youngest being just 12 years old.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the incident as a “targeted attack” and “planned, deliberate and carried out with intent”. Mayor Eric Adams condemned the attack, stating that those who prey on innocent people must be held accountable. “People who prey on innocent people must be held accountable. They must be brought to justice,” he said. Adams also criticized the city council for legislating against cops and trying to abolish the gang database, which he believes hindered their ability to prevent such incidents.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to apprehend the remaining suspects. Tricia McLaughlin, the assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, vowed that the suspects would be hunted down and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. As the city grapples with the aftermath of the attack, officials are calling for increased cooperation between law enforcement agencies to tackle the issue of gang violence and public safety.
