Justice Served: ICE Nabs Honduran National with History of Crimes in Virginia

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Honduran national, in Fairfax, Virginia, on May 2, 2025, after local authorities dropped charges of child abduction and home invasion. Despite the court’s decision to drop the charges, ICE officials deemed Baquedano-Rodriguez a “calamitous hazard” to Virginia residents due to his numerous convictions in the state.
Baquedano-Rodriguez’s criminal record includes convictions for entering property with intent to damage, disorderly conduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was sentenced to a total of 18 months in prison and imposed restitution for some of these crimes. ICE officials emphasized that Baquedano-Rodriguez’s convictions represent a significant threat to public safety, and they will continue to prioritize arresting and removing criminal alien offenders from Washington, D.C. and Virginia communities.
This arrest highlights concerns about local jurisdictions’ policies that prohibit cooperation with ICE and ignore detainer requests. In April, Fairfax County released another Honduran national charged with sex crimes, despite an ICE detainer request. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem reaffirmed her commitment to securing the border and keeping American communities safe. Baquedano-Rodriguez remains in ICE custody pending his removal from the United States
