Pianist Isaiah J. Thompson is set to release his highly anticipated new album, “The Book of Isaiah: Modern Jazz Ministry”, on June 6 via Mack Avenue Records. This life-affirming album is a masterful blend of swing and blues, drawing inspiration from the landmark works of jazz divinity by titans such as Mary Lou Williams, Duke Ellington, and John Coltrane. With its expert command of jazz heritage, “The Book of Isaiah” is a testament to Thompson’s skill as a composer and pianist.
The album’s genesis is rooted in Thompson’s personal journey of faith and self-discovery. After a debilitating injury forced him to reevaluate his priorities, Thompson began to explore his spiritual roots and the meaning of his name, which is derived from the prophet Isaiah. This journey led him to study the Book of Isaiah and pursue his spiritual education in seminary.
