A New Dawn for Education: Bishop Kukah Leads the Charge at Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia

In a move that underscores his commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s education sector, President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bishop Matthew Kukah, the revered Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State. The announcement, made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Monday, marks a significant step in the administration’s efforts to reposition higher education in the country. Bishop Kukah, known for his intellectual prowess, moral integrity, and unwavering dedication to national development, brings a wealth of experience and a visionary approach to his new role. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to infuse ethical leadership and academic excellence into the newly established institution.
Alongside Bishop Kukah, President Tinubu also appointed a team of distinguished professionals to steer the university’s affairs. Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas takes the helm as Vice Chancellor, supported by Sanusi Gambo Adamu as Registrar, Ibrahim Dalhat as Bursar, and Prof. Daniel Abubakar as University Librarian. Additionally, the Governing Council will be bolstered by the expertise of Mr. Thomas Etuh, Chief Fabian Nwaora, Prof. Femi Taiwo, and Zarah Bukar, representing various regions of the country. These appointments reflect a deliberate effort to ensure inclusivity and meritocracy in the university’s leadership.
