Beyond the Sanctuary: Sarah Reeves’ Journey to Illuminate the World with Music

Some voices transcend the walls of a church; they echo into the world, carrying truth and hope to unexpected places. Sarah Reeves, the ethereal songstress behind Christian radio hits Just Want You and Details, has embarked on a profound journey—one that has taken her beyond traditional worship music and into the hearts of listeners far beyond the pews.
It’s not a departure from faith, but rather a widening of her calling. Today, Reeves’ music is just as likely to be heard in a bustling café or mainstream radio station as it is in a worship service. And for her, this is exactly where she is meant to be.
A Divine Redirection
For years, Reeves was known solely in Christian music circles. But as she entered a new season of life, she felt an undeniable nudge from God.
“For so long I was in just solely Christian music, and just the past few years, I felt like God was kind of redirecting me,” Reeves shared with Crosswalk Headlines.
Her transition into the pop sphere has been met with remarkable success. In 2024, her single Get Back Your Fight climbed to No. 17 on America’s Hot AC (Adult Contemporary) chart and reached No. 10 on the UK’s Commercial Pop Club Chart. Another track, More Than Enough, soared to No. 18 on Hot AC. She now finds her name listed alongside global powerhouses like The Weeknd, Post Malone, and Taylor Swift—a testament to the universal appeal of her music.
Bridging the Gap with Truth
Reeves isn’t chasing mainstream recognition for its own sake. She’s filling a void in today’s music industry—creating songs that are wholesome, inspiring, and rooted in truth, without being overtly preachy.
“There are so many people who will never step foot in a church,” she explained. “Where’s the music in the world that still comes from the Holy Spirit, but it’s not preachy? There’s nothing wrong with that music—I still write songs like that. But right now, I feel this unique calling to write wholesome music that’s not explicit, so that people can hear truth.”
And the impact has been profound.
“The more I write these songs, the more I’m finding fans who aren’t necessarily Christians, which is amazing to me, because I’m like—this is the whole reason I’m doing this. I want to reach these people and show them love, show them truth, and show them that there’s so much more to life—ultimately, through God.”
A Voice That’s Just Beginning
Reeves has been on this journey for nearly two decades. She signed her first record deal at 18, and now at 35, she feels like she’s only getting started.
Her recent success in pop isn’t just about breaking into new spaces—it’s also about taking creative control. Tired of an industry dominated by male producers, Reeves took it upon herself to learn music production, determined to have full agency over her sound.
Her viral hit Get Back Your Fight was a defining moment. She recorded a verse, posted it on social media, and within hours, watched as it exploded.
“I remember my phone blowing up and followers coming in and people sharing it, and I’m like, ‘Oh my—this is going viral.’ I quickly wrote the second verse, posted that, and the same thing happened. And I realized: This is the power of social media. It’s the power of being real. I was just sharing my authentic journey through music, and people really resonated with the lyrics.”
Lights, Camera, Faith
Reeves’ artistry isn’t confined to music. Last fall, she stepped into the world of acting, making her debut in God’s Here, a faith-based film inspired by true events. Not only did she compose the film’s score and write its songs, but she also met her future husband, Bill McAdams, on set. The two married in 2024, intertwining their creative passions and personal lives in a love story that, perhaps, is fit for the silver screen itself.
“Maybe so,” she laughed when asked if their love story might one day be told in a film.
A Calling That Knows No Bounds
Sarah Reeves is not walking away from her faith; she is walking deeper into it—embracing a divine mission that extends far beyond the walls of a sanctuary. She is proof that faith doesn’t have to be confined to a category, that music can be both deeply spiritual and widely accessible, and that God moves in places we least expect.
Through her songs, her story, and her unwavering devotion to truth, Reeves is reaching hearts that might never have been touched otherwise. And in doing so, she is redefining what it means to be a voice for her generation—one note at a time.
