With 13 studio albums, 18 #1 singles, and countless electrifying performances, their journey has been nothing short of legendary. From dominating arenas worldwide to landing their music on ESPN, WWE, and hit TV series, Disciple has carried their message to every corner of the culture. And now, fresh off their first-ever Grammy nomination, they’re back to shake the foundations once more.

Disciple To Release New Single, 'Sound the Alarm,' Feb. 28

In 2025, Disciple is set to release their latest sonic warning: “Sound the Alarm,” a single dropping on February 28th. This hard-hitting track heralds the arrival of the deluxe edition of Skeleton Psalms on April 25th, packed with unreleased material, acoustic renditions, and dynamic studio mixes. But as much as this new music is about innovation, it remains rooted in Disciple’s unwavering mission: an urgent call to vigilance against the unseen battles of the soul.

A Call to Arms

“‘Sound the Alarm’ may be seen through the eyes of a survivor in a post-apocalyptic landscape, but it’s really about the dangers that surround our soul on a daily basis,” the band explains. “The thief who comes to kill, steal, and destroy… and our rally call to stay vigilant while alerting those around us to do the same.”

Co-written with Kellen McGregor of Memphis May Fire, the track is a battle cry—one that encapsulates Disciple’s signature blend of adrenaline-pumping aggression and gospel-centered conviction. This duality has defined their sound, from their raw, independent beginnings to their massive chart-topping success.

From the Underground to the Grammy Stage

Formed in 1992 in Maryville, Tennessee, Disciple was born from the heart of teenage frontman Kevin Young. Inspired by Christian rock pioneers like Petra and Stryper, Young sought to create music that carried both the energy of the mainstream metal world and the truth of his faith.

In the early years, Disciple clawed their way through the underground, playing relentless shows and producing records on a shoestring budget. Their grit paid off, landing them a record deal in 1997 and setting them on a trajectory that would see them evolve into one of the most consistent and hard-hitting bands in Christian rock. By the time Skeleton Psalms dropped in 2023, Disciple had long since cemented their status as legends of the genre.

Their latest accolade—a Grammy nomination for “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)” under their worship project Honor & Glory—represents a milestone moment. But for Disciple, the recognition is secondary to the mission. “It’s the call and the cost of being a disciple of Jesus,” Young reflects. “Sometimes you have a lot, sometimes a little. But we’re on a mission.”

A Band Forged in Fire

What has kept Disciple standing for over 30 years? A tenacious brotherhood and an unrelenting purpose. The band—now consisting of Kevin Young (vocals), Josiah Prince (guitar), Andrew Stanton (guitar), and Joey West (drums)—has been a rock-solid unit for over a decade. Their chemistry is undeniable, heard in every searing guitar riff, thunderous drum fill, and soaring vocal melody.

Their 2023 album Skeleton Psalms is a testament to this synergy, boasting three #1 singles—“Executioner,” “Promise to Live,” and “Bad Words.” The album was crafted in-house, produced by guitarist Josiah Prince at The Ranch studio, and further refined by a team of industry heavyweights, including Nick Rad (Skillet) and Sam Moses (Tenth Avenue North).

Beyond the music, their impact runs deep. Disciple’s songs have been anthems of hope for listeners battling depression, addiction, and self-destruction. The 16-week chart-topping success of “Promise to Live” underscores their ability to reach into the darkness and pull people back into the light.

“We’re not fighting alone. We’re fighting together,” Young states. “We make this promise to God and to each other: to not give up fighting. To not lose hope. To live.”

The Road Ahead

Despite an ever-changing music landscape, Disciple remains unshaken. With over 200,000 Spotify listeners, 250,000 social media followers, and 44 million YouTube views, their influence continues to expand. As they gear up for another year of explosive releases and high-energy tours, their message remains the same: Christ above all.

“I don’t want to celebrate anything about what I’ve done in this life,” Young emphasizes. “I want to lay my life down in exchange for a better one that God has for me.”

With Skeleton Psalms (Deluxe) on the horizon and “Sound the Alarm” set to ignite the airwaves, Disciple stands ready to charge forward, undeterred and unstoppable. The battle cry has been sounded—are you listening?
