Citing safety concerns for attendees, law enforcement, first responders, and even police K9s and horses, Trump emphasized the need for caution under such extreme weather conditions. “The weather forecast for Washington, D.C., with the wind chill factor, could take temperatures into severe record lows. Trump stated, “Therefore, I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also because of very cold weather. The various Dignitaries and Guests will be brought into the Capitol.”
In a gesture aimed at ensuring a larger audience can still participate in the historic day, Trump revealed plans to open the Capital One Arena for a live viewing of the ceremony and a special Presidential Parade. “I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my Swearing In,” Trump confirmed.
