106views

Dear Newsboys Family,

With heavy hearts but immense gratitude, we share with you the news that Michael Tait, our beloved frontman for the past 15 years, has made the heartfelt decision to step down as lead vocalist for Newsboys.

In a deeply personal and moving statement shared on social media, Michael reflected on the incredible journey he has had with the band—a journey that has touched hearts, broken barriers, and brought countless souls closer to Christ through the power of music.

“Fifteen years ago, my life was forever changed when I received the invite to step into the role of lead singer for Newsboys. The years since have been some of the most fulfilling, faith-filled, and rewarding years of my life,” Michael shared. He spoke of his travels across the globe, the unforgettable connections with fans, and the music that has become a soundtrack of faith for millions—songs like “Born Again,” “We Believe,” “Worldwide Revival,” and the anthem that sparked a movement, “God’s Not Dead.”

Michael Tait Exits Newsboys with Announcement

Michael’s announcement, born out of prayer and fasting, carries the same faith-filled spirit that has defined his time with the band. Citing Matthew 6:33—“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”—he expressed both a nervous excitement for the future and an unwavering trust in God’s plan.

To his bandmates—Duncan, Jeff, Jody, and Adam—Michael extended heartfelt gratitude, describing them as family. To the crew, the best of the best. And to you—the fans—Michael poured out his love and appreciation:
“Whether you’ve been rocking with us since day one or joined us along the way, thank you. You’ve inspired me more than you know.”

As Michael steps into his next season, Newsboys remains steadfast in its mission to minister through music. Addressing fans shortly after Michael’s announcement, the band shared their unwavering commitment to the ministry that began in 1989:
“Newsboys has never been one person, one lead singer, or one band member—it has always been something so much bigger than any one of us. The heartbeat of Newsboys has always been, and always will be, to lead people to Christ using the gifts the Lord has given us.”

For now, Stellar Kart’s Adam Agee will step in as vocalist while the band continues their work, kicking off the Worldwide Revival Nights tour as planned this weekend. While there are undoubtedly questions about what lies ahead, one thing is clear: Newsboys is not slowing down. They’re gearing up to write the next chapter, holding onto the promise of Proverbs 16:9:
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

To Michael: Thank you for 15 years of unforgettable ministry, music, and memories. Your voice and heart have left an indelible mark on Newsboys and all who have journeyed with us. We pray blessings over your next chapter, trusting that God’s plan for you is greater than we could ever imagine.

To our fans: This is not goodbye. It’s the beginning of something new. As Michael wrote, “The best is yet to come.”

See you on the road,

NEWSBOYS
Duncan, Jeff, Jody, and Adam
