Against the Blizzard: Congress Certifies Donald Trump as President Amid Historic Security Measures

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite a massive blizzard blanketing the nation’s capital in snow, Congress convened today at 1 p.m. to fulfill its constitutional obligation of certifying the next president of the United States. Donald Trump was officially certified as president, securing 312 Electoral College votes, well above the 270 required to reclaim the White House. Vice President Kamala Harris, who presided over the joint session, received 226 votes.
