In a gripping and deeply emotional revelation, award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has opened up about the harrowing health crisis that nearly claimed his life. “It is a Mystery”
Foxx candidly admitted that the exact cause of his medical emergency remains unknown. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me,” he said. “All I can tell you is that I appreciate every prayer because I needed every prayer.” His words, steeped in vulnerability, highlight a man who has emerged deeply grateful for the power of faith, family, and prayer.

The health scare began on April 11, 2023, while Foxx was filming Back in Action with Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close. What started as a severe headache spiraled into an unconscious collapse, leaving him with no memory of the following 20 days.

The Angelic Intuition of Family
As Foxx lay unresponsive, his sister, Deidra Dixon, sprang into action. Trusting her instincts, she rushed him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, a facility she later described as being divinely chosen. “She had a hunch that some angels were sending her,” Foxx said. At the hospital, a doctor urgently informed her of the grim reality: “He’s having a brain bleed that has led to a stroke, and if I don’t go into his head right now, we’re going to lose him.”

But Dixon, whom Foxx described as “4-foot-11 of nothing but pure love,” remained steadfast in her faith. “You can go in his head,” she told the doctor, “but you’re not going to find anything because I already talked to God.”

A Family’s Unyielding Love
The Foxx family rallied around Jamie during his darkest hours. His elder daughter, Corinne Foxx, took control, limiting visitors to protect her father’s dignity and privacy. Meanwhile, his youngest daughter, 14-year-old Anelise Bishop, became a surprising source of healing.

In a moment Foxx describes as miraculous, Anelise entered his hospital room with his guitar and began strumming it. Against all odds, his vitals—dangerously unstable—began to improve. “It was God in that guitar,” Foxx said. “Spiritual defibrillator.”

A Journey Through Darkness
Foxx’s road to recovery was grueling. After being in a coma, he spent weeks in rehabilitation in Chicago, initially confined to a wheelchair and unable to walk. Yet, his spirit remained unbroken. In July 2023, he shared his first update on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming prayers and support. “I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through. … I just didn’t want you to see me like that.”

By August, Foxx was finally able to share a glimpse of hope. “You’re looking at a man who is thankful … finally starting to feel like myself.”
