“Lighting the Path for Future Leaders: Pastor Tunde Bakare Donates Solar Inverter to UNILAG Law Faculty
In a generous gesture commemorating his 70th birthday, Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, has donated a state-of-the-art Hybrid Solar Inverter to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Faculty of Law, where he once studied. During the presentation ceremony titled “Let There Be Light,” Bakare shared his motivation to give back to the academic institution that shaped his early career before he transitioned from law to pastoral ministry. In addition to the inverter, which aims to provide sustainable energy to the faculty, Bakare announced his commitment to supporting the two best-graduating students with scholarships. This donation symbolizes not only his gratitude but also his dedication to empowering future legal professionals in Nigeria.
Addressing the audience, Bakare spoke passionately about the importance of giving back, drawing parallels with previous charitable initiatives marking his milestone birthdays. He shared how, at 50, he renovated his primary school, and at 60, with help from the Central Bank of Nigeria, he transformed his secondary school, Lisabi Grammar School, establishing the Tunde Bakare House on its premises. “Now, as I turn 70, I felt it was time to give back to my university,” Bakare remarked, adding that serving his alma mater was a privilege and a way to uplift the nation. Bakare also noted that one does not need a formal office to make an impact, expressing his lifelong commitment to inspiring positive change in Nigeria.
